Community Leaders Choose for Effortless Community Management

More and more community leaders are going for cloud-based solutions to power their online communities, and there are some compelling reasons behind this shift. According to CharlesW from Invision Community – Exploring the Essence of Invision Community: A Conversation with CharlesW. One of the driving forces is the growing preference for a hassle-free approach to community management. In the past, community leaders often found themselves tangled up in the technical aspects of setting up servers, maintaining software, and ensuring security protocols were in place. However, as the internet continues to evolve, and our needs change, there’s a noticeable trend where community leaders are opting to delegate these responsibilities to experienced software developers and hosting providers.

The primary reason behind this change is the desire to focus on the core aspects of community building and engagement. Community leaders now understand that their primary role should revolve around creating meaningful interactions, creating engaging content, and ensuring member satisfaction. With cloud-based forum hosting solutions, the technical intricacies of community management are mostly taken care of by experts. This liberates community leaders to dedicate their time and energy to what truly matters – taking care of their thriving online community.

Furthermore, cloud-based solutions offer an exceptional level of scalability, reliability, and security, which can be quite challenging to achieve with traditional self-hosted setups. These platforms come equipped with automatic updates, robust security features, and responsive support teams. This not only reduces the workload for community leaders but also guarantees a smooth experience for both administrators and community members alike.

Conclusion:

Forum Hosting Cloud options, including offerings from Invision Community, XenForo, vBulletin, Discourse and others, have revolutionized the world of online community management. These platforms provide a convenient, scalable, and secure way to create and manage discussion forums. When selecting a cloud hosting provider, consider your community’s unique needs, budget, and growth potential. I run self-hosted forums and my forums are built on open-source platforms, so you can understand I have limited information on this topic. This article provided a lot of information that I was looking for. Thank you very much. By the way, when you use cloud forum hosting, you do not have to pay forum subscription fees separately, do you?

      Hi Nomad,
When you go for Cloud Forum Hosting, everything except a domain is part of that package. Web hosting, the use of the software (with often more features than self hosting) and thus no separate forum subscriptions are needed.

Cloud based hosting is perfect for those who don’t have the time or perhaps knowledge to self host their own community. I’ve used Invision’s cloud services back in the mid 10’s after moving one of my forums from phpBB to Invision. This was when I was still relatively new to owning a website, so uploading files to my server was still relatively confusing for me. In some cases, it may be cheaper to go with cloud first and then later on save up to purchase a license for self hosting if there’s a software you wish to use too.

While a great idea for those that want the best of the best, but don’t have the know-how of running their own forums on the backend with hosting and upgrading. It’s a great way to have a premium software without the need to worry about upgrades or hosting/server tweaks. However, you’ll need to pay for it as it ain’t cheap.
